Updated for 2025, Shepherd Modular Assault Pack (SMAP) MK2 combines elements of modern carriers with legacy designs used in the early 2000s to provide a unique solution to modern armor needs.

The SMAP is designed to aid users who are required to carry mission-critical gear in overt environments, where a full assault pack or multi-day pack may not be necessary. Ranging from manpack radios (like our team's motorola XTL2500 units), extra ammunition, wet weather gear, medical supplies, and more; the SMAP is designed to work for the user and the team. Internal mounting solutions allow for easy removal of Source branded water bladders, we recommend the 2L bladder for this size pack.

Methods of attachment:

The SMAP includes all necessary components to use right out of the box when directly mounting to the Shepherd Load-Bearing Carrier rear bag via MOLLE, OR in a self-access style using included strap kit.

For standalone straps, we highly recommend the Palatac Echo Straps

Dimensions:

The SMAP is designed to fit in the footprint of a 10" x 12" carrier without extending below the bottom of the plate bag. The dimensions of the main compartment is 7" x 12" x 4", with an additional compartment measuring 7" x 6" x 4". Full capacity of ~8.2L (504 cu. in.).
