Releasing in Q2 2024, the Shepherd Load-Bearing Carrier (SLBC) combines elements of modern carriers with legacy carriers used in the early 2000s to provide a unique solution to modern armor needs.

Chief complaints of modern carriers include the width of the shoulder straps and where they sit on user's shoulders (or in many cases, their neck), the SLBC was designed to mitigate neck chafing and increase the ease of don/doffing. The 1.5" shoulder straps are splayed out towards the user's shoulders instead of being entirely vertical, contouring to your upper body. Included shoulder strap pads also aid in reducing fatigue and incresing comfort for the user.

Front and center, the SLBC is designed to be an Overt carrier solution for a variety of end-user configurations. A large zipper admin is integrated to the front of the plate bag, with a 3 x 4 MOLLE field for mounting EUD devices (such as Juggernaut systems). Two 1" female ITW/NEXUS buckles are bartacked onto the front bag to accept modern "swift-clip" placard and chest rigs utilizing 1" male ITW/NEXUS buckles, like our Center-Console Placard (CP) or Medium Chest Rig (MCR), both releasing in Q2 2024. Comm/cable routing has also been implimented to the MOLLE field, but is advised to not run cables through the user's left shoulder strap as this would compromise the ability to quickly doff the carrier.

The rear plate bag incorporates a heavy-duty drag handle, as well as a full MOLLE field for users to attach our Shepherd Modular Assault Pack (SMAP), releasing Q2 2024.

Methods of attachment:

The SLBC includes all necessary components to use right out of the box. On the user's left shoulder is the same Duraflex Stealth Vee buckle used on the Crye Precision AVS carrier, allowing easy don/doffing action. The SLBC also includes a 3-band cummerbund that allows for quick removal utilizing Duraflex Taktic buckles; simply pull the Taktic bead away from your body and the cummerbund pops open (on both right and left sides). The cummerbund mounts to the carrier by utilizing included shock cord, allowing the carrier to move with the user during breathing.

Dimensions:

The SLBC standard sizing accepts plates up to 1.25" thick, and currently sized for 10" x 12" SAPI cut plates. There will be a larger plate size coming to market in Q3 of 2024. Designed around Level IV 10 x 12 multicurve plates with room for plate-backer pads, the SLBC is sized to fit a majority of users.
